Buying country houses in Sintra

One of the most popular and well known tourist destinations in Portugal apart from Algarve is the Lisbon coast which is often referred to as the ‘Portuguese Riviera’. The region is preferred by tourists because of the warm hospitality meted out to them by the inhabitants of this region. This has encouraged and facilitated the building and buying of country house and villas in the region.

The magnificent landscapes and natural surroundings in different parts of Portugal provide the perfect ambience for investing in country houses and exquisite villas. Sintra is one such location along the coast of Lisbon and this is one place known majorly for its wonderful buildings and architectures and is a popular destination. It is to be remembered that Sintra is composed of a group of three villages namely, Sao Pedro, Estefania and Sintra-Vila. In fact it should be pointed out that the ancient Sintra had been regarded by the UNESCO as a site of World Heritage and actually occupies a miniscule area. Historical evidences go to show that during the period of the 15th century and even later, the famed Palacio Nacional da Vila located in this beautiful town served as the summer homes for the royalty.

In fact the town of Sintra is filled with various such exquisitely built edifices like Monserrate palace, Pena palace, Moorish castle, Seteais palace, Quinta da Regaleira and the Monastery of Capuchos apart from the National palace. Like many of the Portuguese towns and cities which still preserve the ancient remains and relics, the town of Sintra too has protected a magnificent monument which dates back to as early as the 8th century known as the Castelo dos Mouros. For those who are to invest in villas and cottages, Sintra is a perfect location and the horse-drawn carriages which meander in the town only adds to its beauty.
