Buying country houses in Sagres
Located in the south western part of the continent of Europe, Portugal has emerged in recent times as one of the prominent tourism destinations and various regions of Portugal are tourist havens. The Algarve region located in ht southernmost end of Portugal is the most visited location in the country. It is a preferred location for villas and country houses as well despite the high land prices.
The town of Sagres is located in the Algarve region of Portugal and is a popular destination for country house and villas. One of the highlighting features of Sagres is the remnants of the Navigation and Exploration School which was built by Prince Henry the Navigator. Nothing much has remained of the original edifice though the enormous pebble wind compass used for navigation known as Rosa dos Ventos and a small chapel named Nossa Senhora da Graca has survived the passage of time and civilization. There are various factors that led to the establishment of this navigation school in this region of Algarve.
The foremost cause is the location of this small town. Sagres is located very close to the southern coast of Cape St. Vincent and its location prevents it from the turbulent winds and rough seas and these factors had facilitated the location of this school for navigation in this region. Sagres is not a very green town as the physiography of the region makes it extremely rocky and hence flora are scarce though it has been found that approximately 25 different kinds of orchids are grown in this region. Close proximity to the seas affect the cuisine of Sagres and it is dominated mostly by the sea fish and the eateries of this area are famous for the quality and freshness of the fishes served. Windsurfing and sailing are some of the prevalent leisure time activities available.
